Chicago Clean Power Coalition

The Chicago Clean Power Coalition is a growing coalition of individuals and organizations committed to creating a sustainable and clean energy economy for Metropolitan Chicago. This will empower people to protect public health and the environment, while also strengthening regional economy through new job development. The coalition is working to retire Chicago’s coal-fired power plants in order to transition Chicago to a cleaner energy economy through energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy.

Campaign Mission and Goals

Mission:
Build a clean energy future for Chicago

Goals:
1.  Bring about a transition from the use of fossil fuel energy to a reliance on clean, safe and renewable energy sources.

2.  Make energy conservation and efficiency a priority in reducing energy demand within the Chicago area.

3.  Replace jobs dependent on fossil fuels with green jobs centered on conservation, efficiency and clean energy technologies.

4.  Secure a clean energy future that is just and equitable, embracing all people regardless of race, creed, color, ethnic origin, income or other social or demographic distinctions.

2012 Coordinating Committee

This is the group that serves on subcommittees and has been meeting twice monthly or more over the past two years.  They are the backbone of the coalition, responsible for decision-maing and carrying out all aspects of the current campaign to retire Fisk and Crawford coal plants.
